Discuss the importance of effective operations management and change management when designing and implementing a project plan.
Please follow the following guidelines in your discussion:
- Operations management
- Discuss the role of the Inputs-transformations-outputs process in project planning and execution. Inputs – people, materials, data, equipment, premises, etc. Transformation – converting materials to a product/service, analyzing and converting data, etc. Outputs – the end product/service, cashflow report, a project plan, etc.
- Explain the importance of scheduling the operations (why task A must happen before task B, allocation of responsibility, time allocation, etc)
2. Managing change
- Discuss some important drivers/sources of change and how it impacts a project plan – external realities are of particular interest right now. Think of the impact the covid19 pandemic will have on the likely success of your project. How could you change/adapt your plan to deal with this challenge? The external pressures of the pandemic will also have a knock-on effect on investment, demand for products/services, employment levels, disposable income, etc.
- How would you manage this change process (deal with different stakeholder interests, performance indicators, who would lead the change, etc.)
