You are required to do two things for a complete submission: post your work online to Blackboard and bring a hard copy to class.
Before class starts, on the due date, please follow these instructions to post your work online:
1.Log into Blackboard, and go into our course (COMM 1420).
2.Click on the button labelled “Assignments” at the left of the screen.
3.You’ll be redirected to a new page; click on the folder that says “Direct Strategy Assignment 10%”
4.Click on the link in that folder called “Direct Assignment.”
5.Click on “Browse My Computer” and locate your file. Attach your file.
6.When you are done, click on “Submit” in the lower right corner.
For Assignment 1, write a direct strategy email.

Who your reader is: a customer service representative for Instacart
Background: Early last year, Loblaw, Canada’s largest grocer, announced that it would be providing online grocery shopping and delivery services to Halifax residents through the mobile app Instacart. Your employer is interested in a similar grocery delivery service. He has asked you to email Instacart to find out more about the service, so he can decide if he wants to offer it to Harvest Grocery customers. The email address is [email protected]
Your task:
1. Draft a direct strategy email requesting the information.
2. Include a list of four or five specific and relevant questions you want to ask your reader about Instacart’s services. You can visit www.instacart.ca to get some ideas.
3. Revise your draft(s) to ensure your message follows the instructions given here, in your COMM class, and on the checklist.
4. Save and submit your assignment to Turnitin as a Word document
