through various articles and find one related to criminology.
o What is the mandate or focus of the journal you retrieved the article
from? Why are scholarly journals with Indigenous-only content
important to the study of criminology?
o What is the thesis or purpose of the article? Why is the topic under
study important from an Indigenous perspective? The thesis is
generally found in the introductory paragraph, but you should be
able to explain in your own words what this article is trying to
accomplish.
o How is/are the author(s) actually doing the study? In other words,
what is the method? What elements of decolonized and Indigenous
methodologies did you find evidence of? Provide specific examples.
o What are the main results or findings of this study/article? Focus on
the findings that relate to the main questions or what the author(s)
is/are trying to accomplish. You can also discuss any findings that
either the author(s) or you think are particularly interesting or
unexpected.
o Did this study contribute to the field of Indigenous criminology or
social policy in the way that the author hoped? In other words, did it
reach its goals? For this section, you need to use your own
assessment and critical thinking to evaluate whether or not you think
the article accomplished what it set out to do.
o How, if at all, did what was presented in the article relate to the
themes discussed in your assigned readings/viewings? In this section,
demonstrate your ability to apply the concepts from the Monchalin
(2016) and Victor (2007) readings, and the videos. Which of these
themes did you find most interesting, and why?
