Criminological theory explaining Ted Bundy’s behavior
Paper instructions:
In this assignment, you are required to select an offender/crime, and then select an appropriate criminological theory that best explains the causes of the offender’s criminal behavior.
There are three components to the paper. First, you should first describe the selected offender and crime he/she has committed. The offender/crime in question may be a famous offender, or a lesser known, local offender that you are aware of. Secondly, after describing the offender/crime in question, you will then identify and explain the criminological theory you believe bests explains the offender’s behavior. Lastly, you will finish by explaining specifically how the theory explains the behavior.
For example, if a student chose the serial killer Ted Bundy, the student would first explain who he was, and describe his crimes. Then, the student would select a theory to explain his behavior. Let’s say the student selects Psychopathy as the underlying cause of the crimes. The student would then explain Psychopathy and its characteristics. After doing this, the student would finish the paper by giving specific examples of Bundy’s personality and crimes and how these characteristics and behaviors are explained by Psychopathy.
The paper should be APA (American Psychological Association) style. The paper should be two to three pages in length, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font. APA style is the style of writing used in the social sciences (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, etc). So, if this is your first time to use this style, it likely will not be your last. The best free resource for APA style is the Purdue Owl website from Purdue University. (I chose Ted Bundy)
