Stimulant side effects
Stimulants use too has got side effects and if not looked into may be very dangerous to the user. For example, when one injects Ritalin, there are tiny particles of the drug which do not dissolve and when used for some time, the insoluble particles block the blood vessels which may be too narrow and this eventually causes lungs and eyes damages. Consequently, there are severe emotional conditions which may be caused by the drug, even on a short-term use, hallucinations as well as psychotic behavior on the users (Rivera et al., 2005). One of Texas research found out that Ritalin use increases the chances of one having abnormalities on the genetic compositions and hence the development of cancerous cells in the body. The cancerous cells development comes with a long use in the drug, either as prescribed to treat narcolepsy or the non-prescribed form as used in sports for PED (Rivera et al., 2005).
Secondly, ecstasy is another illegal drug that is used in sports and it is called methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Drug use can thus be detected by anti-doping tests as it is responsible for speeding up the way the central nervous system works as well as the reality perception. Since this drug is made in illegal laboratories, one may not know the contents and hence the chemical composition may have far many side effects than one can imagine of. When used for a long period, the drug can damage the brain cells which are responsible for regulating the mood, appetite, and body temperatures as well. Such cells damaged are the neurotransmitter serotine cells of the brain.
