In this assignment we must develop a qualitative research proposal. We have to Write an essay informing the reader how I plan on taking my Research question, and then developing a plan and proposal as to how and what we will undertake in order to gather the correct and necessary research and information for our qualitative research question.
This is a piece of work in which you are invited to develop a qualitative research proposal. The proposal will identify an organisational problem or area of interest for research.
Emphasize on Islamophobia in the professional sports industry, describe and elaborate if its ethical or unethical for organizations/authorities (sports) who discriminate to Muslim women when taking part in sports as they have to wear the hijab and dress in a certain way. discuss the difficulties and emotions as well if possible as it is a qualitive proposal.
NB – this is a proposal only. You are not required to collect data/complete the research.
My chosen Qualitative research question that we need to develop a proposal for is the following:
What are the difficulties Muslim women in hijab face in the professional and competitive sports industry? (discrimination against Muslim women in the professional sports industry)
- Besides talking about the hijab-covering of the hair (main focus), you can also cover the other factors they face (wearing of modest clothing, morality etc). and the difficulties they face in certain sports etc.
This overall coursework should be a qualitative proposal that addresses the issue (The difficulties Muslim women in hijab face in the professional sports industry)basically how it can be solved and the impact on the people, discuss the difficulties and emotions as well if possible as it is a qualitive proposal.
- I have attached lecture notes in slide form, as well as the relevant readings which should be included in the sources. These slides and readings provide some necessary info and theories which will be relevant to this essay and should be taken into account and used in the essay.

It gives an idea of what a qualitative proposal is like and what is expected from my institution from this qualitative research proposal, and I have also attached the assessment criteria for the assessment.

- Please see the essay structure below for what information is needed for each subheading. The structure below makes it easy to understand what is needed in each paragraph, as well as the questions that need to be answered in each paragraph and the points to be made.
Important main points to be used in the essay:
– Ethics and sensitivity of the people being focused or researched about
– Comfortability: How a man (me) interviewing woman dynamic? (Muslim women) qualitative interviews; focus groups, one-on-one interviews.
– Positivism, Romanticism and refextivist theories (need to add these theories and if possible more) (information provided in PowerPoint documents, also search externally)
– Use neo positivism principles in the essay where applicable (information provided in PowerPoint documents, also search externally)
– Primary research: focus group, one on one interview, Secondary research: past articles, books; use in the section of ‘Proposed Method & Approach (700 words)’ (see below).
– Find and add a few specific examples of issues of Muslim women being faced with the issue of difficulty in the sports industry
