The Surgeon General issued many calls to actions to remove some of the burdens and disparities. In addition the IOM published report by Smedley BD, Stith AY, Nelson AR, eds. Unequal treatment: confronting racial and ethnic disparities in health care provides numerous reasons for competency in meeting the needs of diverse populations. Reports such as Healthy People 2010 and Healthy People 2020 at www.healthypeople.gov/2020/topics-objectives/topic/oral-health continued to provide objectives and significant data towards goals.
