Gorse Farm is a small organic farm located in the foothills of Mount Leinster just outside Bunclody, Co.Wexford. Established by Jenny Watkins and Janet Power in 2016, the farm produces a range of healthy organic vegetables which retails in Supervalu’s throughout Wexford. Gorse Farm produce can also be found in a selection of cafes and restaurants.
The company are applying to the local enterprise board for feasibility plan funding to develop a new weekly ‘seasonal vegetable and fruit box delivery’ system for the Bunclody, Gorey and Enniscorthy catchment areas.
The enterprise board want the company to do some investigation into the following before proceeding with the funding application.
1. The Enterprise Board want to be confident that Gorse Farm understand the basics of management and its operating environment (20%).
I. Assess the school(s) of management thought which you believe most appropriate for Gorse Farm. Explain the school of thought and justify why you feel it would be the most suitable model. Use relevant theory to support your answer (6%).
II. Develop a SWOT analysis of the company. List 3-4 points under each heading (4 %).
III. Conduct a five forces analysis for the organic vegetable industry. List and explain two points under each heading (5%).
IV. Conduct a PESTEL analysis. List and explain two points under each heading (5%)
