The assignment will assess the student’s ability to critically extrapolate ideas and evidence-based on a comprehensive literature review.
You are required to conduct a literature review on the following research question:
How can line managers affect goal setting effectively to enhance the performance of people acting in the service area?
Line managers have a very important role to play, not only in the day-to-day management of people and operations, but also in implementing HR policies and in the L&D activities of both their team and organisation. This is particularly so in organisations which devolve these activities towards line management. It’s therefore important that proper consideration is given to the way line managers are selected, developed and managed on an ongoing basis to ensure they are able to perform this role.
