All the key stakeholders, NUM, ANUMs, clinical resource nurses, nursing educators and the ICU nurses of all levels will be involved in the present project through a period of eight weeks. Communications with above members on the projected related matters such as securing of education session rooms on specific dates, deadlines and objectives of the project and progress of contents would be informed, maintained and updated via emails.
Data Collection and Analysis
A learning needs assessment and gap analysis using the steps involved in Appendix 3 would be conducted to develop a pre-test in a form of self-assessment questionnaires that would include a combination of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. This is to assist the educator in identifying the educational gaps in practice, skills, and knowledge considering the current best practices (Jannetti, 2012). This would be followed by eight weeks of running the education project on the topic. Finally, a post-test using the above mixed methods would also be carried out after the education sessions to evaluate. This is to ensure a better way to capture the participants’ evaluation of the sessions (Chidambaram & Josephson, 2019). The results of the pre-test will be compared to the post-test to establish the effectiveness of the educational program and the results from project would be submitted to the stakeholders in hope of achieving improvement in the oral health of the patients in the ICU.
