Students are required individually to research a Media Campaign/ Advertisement or News headline that focused on any group you might work within social care. Each student will focus on the storyline, issues highlighted, positive or negative impact on the minority group, what were the reactions in the media from the public (if any), were there any changes to our legal/political system as a result of the campaign and was the media campaign successfully or not?
Students are asked to make reference to the influence the mass media have on these groups and how the media portrays your chosen group. Think about your understanding of mass media, ownership and control as well as representation and stereotyping. How has this impacted on your chosen group?
Students can use a creative method to present their project for example: The film, Photography, Collage, Scrapbook, Newspaper clippings, Powerpoint Presentation.
