Reading aloud to children has shifted significantly over the years to accommodate more modernized reading strategies by using new gadgets and reading tolls. The finding of Bates (2017) suggests that the use of new appliances has had a positive effect, especially when improving the children’s literacy because the gadgets available are simple and comfortable to use. The children have to be attentive during the session so that they can learn new words being read aloud. The literacy instructors are also supposed to pay attention to purposely guide the children through the learning process successfully (Layne, 2015). Read aloud sessions through the media involves the human effort which makes it practical and real as the one on one read aloud. Based on the above understanding, it can be said that the children and parents feel like being part of the reading aloud process that is broadcasted through televisions or the radio. According to Auslander (2008), live performance provides close contact between the performer and the audience which is practical in reading-aloud sessions because the children have contact with literacy instructors if the programme is being broadcasted through television or the radio. Read aloud sessions with parents also provide opportunities for the children to have close contact with them which is good for literacy development.
