As this new technology (3Dprinting) in concrete, it still in development and in it’s early stages, getting all the details of construction and process could be a challenge due to its sensitivity and protection of information/ data.
ARUP is one of the largest and leading companies in Europe, looking at this new way of using concrete in architecture and construction.
I have written and got in contact with the director in charge of this project in Milan. He agreed to speak to me over the phone to provide me with more information, details of this experiment, as well as answering questions that I might have through emails.
CONCLUDING REMARKS (100words)
At first, the idea of talking and researching concrete technology seemed to me to be the perfect topic that could benefit the architecture community in its implication of design and construction. However, researching and collecting information/ data of new technology could turn up to be a challenge, as companies could opt not to share their findings and technical notes due to matters of consent and confidentiality.
If this turns up to be the case, a plan B action will take place and then perhaps I will concentrate just on the technology at the time used in the construction of The Southbank Centre.
