Considering the newly revived significance of labour education and its pertinence in moral development in contemporary Chinese education system, the proposed research aims to focus on the ways in which labour education in school facilitates the promotion of moral development within current Chinese education system. Review of literature suggests that the topic on labour education in China, despite its popularity, has not been studied systematically. Moreover, it is usually discussed in relation to its pedagogical contents, problems, general functions and the necessity to promote it. But it is rarely analysed specifically and independently with regards to moral development, specifically in the Chinese context. This research can therefore fill the lacunae of scholarship in the fields of Chinese education, labour education, and moral development within education .Further, it will shed some light for other countries on how to promote moral development in education whilst enhancing students’ personal knowledge and skills in current modern era. To meet the research objectives, I propose the following research questions:
What are teachers’ perspectives of moral development in labour education?
How do teachers develop moral values through labour education?
What challenges may teachers face in developing moral values through labour education?
