Supply chains are the economy’s core nervous system which on the whole support the affluent lifestyle people live in. It is not only an essential part of business but also affects the way people live. The general knowledge of supply chain in most people is limited to the transportation tools they see every day, such as transportation on roads, rail or sea and most of them are unaware of the extent to which they rely on supply chains to sustain their everyday life. For example, a baggage was lost during a flight and was delivered back to the owner the very next day. An optimized Supply Chain Management ensures item to reach consumer efficiently and effectively. This research helped me establish a deeper insight into problems faced by SMEs in my hometown, china. Since Supply Chain is an integral process in most business, it increases my future employment possibilities as I am equipped with sufficient knowledge in this sector.
Research Objectives
The research will aim to explore the factors preventing successful implementation of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) in SMEs and provide relevant overcoming strategies:
Identify and rank barriers that hinder the implementation of sustainable supply chain management in SMEs
Identify and evaluate overcoming strategies corresponding to the barriers of implementation of sustainable supply chain management in SMEs.
