The consultant discovered that Mark had a history of non-concordance with medication and at some point, overdosed himself with forty (2mg) of diazepam. The best tools to assess patient’s attitude to medication include the Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI) Glasgow Antipsychotic Side-effect Scale (GASS) (Waddell and Taylor 2009) (Hogan et al., 1983). In this case, the specialist used DAI.
Occupational Therapist used Vona Du Toit (VdT) Model of Creative Ability (MoCA). It was considered as a recovery-focused model to assess Mark’s levels of motivation manifesting themselves through observation and coinciding levels of action (De Witt, 2005). Once the assessment process has identified the levels of creative ability, the model then stipulates treatment principles which allow for growth and change.
