The veterinary sector has not been left behind. In the past decade, the veterinary industry has been going through massive consolidation. There are dozens of corporations that are acquiring veterinary practices, and there is a vibrant private equity interest to fund these acquisitions. This consolidation is evident in all geographic regions with a developed economy (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia). And the reason for consolidation is evident. In the world today, there is a significant rise in the adoption of pet animals as human companions arising from some of the complexities of present-day human relations. Pets are used to deal with stress, keep away loneliness besides bringing fun to their keepers. Amongst the most common pets for adoption include dogs, cats, parrots, mice and even monkeys, as companions for human beings
