User experience (UX) design is the process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. This involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function.
While UX design appears to make rational sense, there is still some confusion as to the definitions of user experience design, furthermore, we have seen the emergence of parallel design disciplines such as service design, design thinking, and customer experience design.
In order to help demystify the discipline of UX design, you are required to write a report that explains UX and demonstrate the utility of the discipline.
Section 1 of the report – Present a definition of UX design and present a brief description of parallel design disciplines.
Begin with an introduction detailing what will be included in this section
▪Define AI – This won’t be simple as UX can mean a lot of things, you may have to briefly look at the history of UX to show how we got where we are today
▪Present some definitions of other user-focused design approaches, this can lay the groundwork for section 2
Section 2 of report – Present 3 case studies that demonstrate the impact of different design disciplines (UX Design, Customer Experience Design, Service Design, Design Thinking)
Identify 3 exemplar case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of 3 of the design approaches presented above. (You may be able to identify an approach not listed above)
Section 3 of the report – Focusing on 2 important trends in design, discuss how a 1 specific industry (of your choosing) is likely to leverage design.
There is a lot happening in design at the moment, from public sector service design, design for innovation in software development, universal design etc. From the perspective of 1 organization. Explore two ways in which design may impact them?
